I am planning a camping trip and trying to decide which pieces are worth hauling. The 10-inch skillet is a good choice, that thing does everything so I am debating whether to bring the Dutch oven because it opens up so many options but it's also a significant chunk of weight.

I want to know what people who do a lot of outdoors cooking have settled on. Is there a lightweight combo you've found that covers breakfast, dinner and a one-pot meal without breaking your back?

For me, a 10-inch skillet and a small Dutch oven cover just about everything. The Dutch oven is heavy but once you start making stews, chili, biscuits or cobbler over the fire, it's hard to leave behind.

A 10-inch skillet is usually the best do everything piece for camp cooking. If you add anything, a light aluminum Dutch oven or combo lid/skillet gives you versatility without the full cast iron weight.
