pennels cauldron

my wife and I really like collecting old things. recently, we found a big cauldron that's labeled PENNELLS on each side, we think that this is quite odd because we never heard of this brand. the cauldron got 3 legs, the casting runs vertically across. I tried looking, but can't find anything at all about this brand online. Has anyone here ever heard about the PENNELS brand? have any ideas where this may have come from? It says #4 on the pot and the lid, maybe it means the size of 4 gallons

yeah, the brand is not something popular. but I looked it up, it says that PENNELS usually made by a small or local foundry, possibly in the late 19th or early 20th century

my aunt got a Pennels, it's wasn't made by a major cast iron manufacturer like Griswold or Lodge. It was likely a smaller, regional operation, or possibly even a retail brand name used by a store on products made by an anonymous foundry.

hi @4pplecrisp, for the markings, in the vintage cast iron world, a #4 usually doesn't mean 4 gallons. It's usually a trade size that refers to the diameter or a specific catalog number.
if it’s a large cauldron, a #4 usually holds around 3 to 4 quarts (about 1 gallon), though for some brands, it could be different

Hmmm... Pennells, from what I know, is a vintage brand, possibly late 1800s/early 1900s cast iron pieces.
