What are your best tips for seasoning a smaller skillet? I just found a 7 in cast iron skillet at a secondhand store and it is in really nice shape. The bottom says "Artisanal Kitchen Supply." I know that this brand sells its products at retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond. But I am trying to figure out where these pans are actually made. My searches suggest that much of their cast iron and other kitchen items, like ceramic creamers, are manufactured in China. This is a common practice for many affordable cookware brands sold in the US. The main thing is the pan is solid cast iron and that makes it durable. If you take good care of it by seasoning and cleaning it correctly, it will last you a very long time.

hi @bad J0k3R
For a smaller skillet like that, you can do quick, effective stovetop seasoning after your initial cleaning. This is easy maintanance you can try
Heat it high, add half teaspoon of seasoning oil smoke Point, then wipe and cool

The best way to season is to simply fry bacon or shallow fry anything in it for the first few weeks. Cooking is the ultimate seasoning!

Aside from the initial cleaning, how can you avoid rust? Do you prefer sanding it or using a brush?

hi @bad J0k3R just wanna tell you that to avoid rust, never air dry. After washing, put it back on a medium burner for 2–3 minutes until the water evaporates, then rub a tiny drop of oil into the surface while it's still warm
I do this method and it works well
