Thought I’d share that I’ve found over the decades that a big failure of our wonder cast iron cookware is that like:
A seasoned cast iron just isn't enough to keep some food from sticking.
No one tells us owners of wonderful amazing cast iron that the reason they are so terribly hard to clean when we get some burnt on food(to the point that owners too often give up and throw cast iron away and never look back),
Is because we don’t know about lifetime and amazing “Chain Mail” pot scrubbers.
Made from SS chain linked mesh together.
Originally used to protect soldier knights from enemy swords.
This stuff is sold for scrubbing cast iron and Pyrex pans and such. Not for non stick Teflon pans because it can damage their surface.
The chain mail so easily knocks off even the toughest of burnt on food.
Also for less tough burnt food, Stainless Steel wire with foam pad inside, scrub pads does an amazing job and gets the little stuff much more quickly. But could damage the crappy non stick Teflon pans.
I introduced both of these tools to a commercial kitchen’s dishwashing staff and they love the and use the ss wire pad the most.
I really do believe the cast iron pans industry is shooting themselves in their heads by not providing these with eash pan sold. Or at the very least recommending it for purchase in the cleaning instructions.
I did have some friends who also swore by wonderful cast iron. Now they are vegetarians and would cook with so much oil that their food floated and never needed heavy cleaning.
Oh also we just love the cooking oil non pressurized spray bottles now available. You just pour your favorite oil in when low.
Some can also pour out the top when needed.
Clean your pan and just spray oil for the next use.
I get all these on aliexpress has the best prices for these but the mail is a bit slow.
Take care
