I have a few rare pieces that I am almost afraid to use because I do not want to crack them. My cheap modern lodge gets used every single morning for bacon. Does a great job. Do you actually cook with your most expensive vintage pieces or are they just for display?

If it’s too precious to use, it’s basically museum decor with extra steps and guilt every time you open the cabinet.

I never thought of it that way. You're right! I think I'll clean and season 3 wall hanger decoration Wagner Ware skillets I have and start using them. With care they will provide me with years of use and I'll pass them onto my Chef Daughter. WIN-WIN!

While I have used almost every piece I have purchased. Over time I have certain pieces that are older and more valuable than the others. Those small few, maybe 8 pieces or so, are assigned to the "collector corner" and don't get regular use anymore. I have lots of other nice vintage pans that still see regular use though. Every so often I'll pull something out of the collector corner to get a little oil and seasoning added to it.

They will be the pieces I would like to display at some point. Not in our current house though.
