I made another pizza in my Lodge 12 inch cast iron skillet in the oven at 475 F using Hi Temp Grapeseed oil and did NOT LIKE IT. The pizza was good , but the Grapeseed oil didn't impress me at all and I will go back to my tried and true Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I still had the hot oil smell in the house and opened all the windows. Not an easy feat with the outside temp in the 20's (F). Good cooking to all. God Bless. Bob

It seems your oven temperature exceeded the limits of the oil. The grapeseed oil usually smokes around 420 degrees.

Good info, but I make pizza at 475 F. I get a great bottom crust and top is well done too and the Greek EVOO TASTES MUCH BETTER TO ME so I'll stick with it for now.
Refined Avocado Oil has a 520 F smoke point so I will purchase some the next time I food shop and try it! Gotta experiment! God Bless. Bob

I'm going to try REFINED avocado oil , NOT REGULAR avocado oil, there is a difference!

+1 @shenshan5! Try brushing on a light coat of avocado oil to keep things from sticking, and don’t forget to drizzle your favorite Greek olive oil over the pizza as soon as it comes out of the oven.

Just what I was planning to do. I do plan on using Refined Avocado Oil, not regular avocado oil. I checked and there is a difference between the two.

That's a good choice because refined avocado oil has a higher smoking point. While the regular avocado oil is ideal for salads, dressings and low heat cooking.
