hey there, my neighbour has a lamb mold too, and she used a small wooden dowel to plug the vent holes, and it works. I helped her make a lamb cake before 🐑

I feel you. Old lamb molds are frustrating. Maybe try to grease it and pour batter slower. Also, you might want to skip foil for it. Maybe silicone molds are the better option.

Try to fill the head part halfway, then bake that first until it firms up. Then pour the rest in? Foil is going to help but layering the batter in stages usually does the trick.

Also I don't think that's the right use of tags. LOL. Skip that.

That dowel trick is such a clever one, and I also like the suggestion about staged baking. Old molds definitely have their own unique charm. I might have to try a few of these tips out before I get too frustrated with mine

Fill the main body first, then use a piping bag to gently fill the head cavities so it doesn't spill. Also, bake it in a slightly hotter oven for a shorter time to help the batter set faster in the head before it overflows

One trick is to fill the mold just slightly under full and bake on a lower rack so it cooks more evenly. You can also pre grease and lightly flour every nook, and some folks use a bit of parchment or aluminum foil shaped to block tricky spots just make sure it's snug and not touching the batter too much
