I got asked to restore my sister's valuable Griswold No 8 Dutch Oven and even though I have had good results with the electrolysis method on my own cast iron pieces, I am a little nervous about messing up such a nice piece of vintage cookware. And of course my sister will kill me if I damage this. This is like a family heirloom passed down by my great great grandmother.

I know electrolysis is great for removing all the rust and old buildup without damaging the metal but restoring a Dutch oven with the lid is a little different than just a skillet, so I want to be extra careful to get it right. Any tips?

Might not need the electrolysis. If the cover has enamel coating on the underside, it might potentially be hurt by electrolysis or lye bath. SO be careful.

you got this! just make sure that the charger is off before you touch the water.
you're doing a larger piece, so make sure your plastic tub is sturdy, 20 gallons of water weighs about 160 lbs, and the last thing you want is a structural failure in the middle of your garage
