Newer cast iron designs have smoother bottoms and flat bases for induction cooktops.

So finally they are compatible with modern kitchens and easier to slide across glass tops. However, they are still slow to heat and cool, and some older rough pans can scratch delicate surfaces. Do you think it's a good trend?

You’re right! What I like most is that the smooth bottoms protect against scratches and make glass tops easier to work with. Aside from that it is more usable in more kitchens without losing its durability.

Slow heating and cooling is just how cast iron works. But thanks to its new design more households can now enjoy using it comfortably.
