Hello All. I live in David Thompson Country in the Mountains of western Alberta. I spend up to 100 days a year out in the mountains camping and guiding and love cooking with cast iron skillets and Dutch ovens.

Does it take long to heat up cast iron skillets outdoors?

Not at all. I use Coleman stoves and also over the open fire (coals). Works well and heats up quicker than an electric stove. I also spend 40 days guiding horse back moose hunts. We stay in canvas tents and cook on a wood cook stove. Cast iron is our go to.
