Help me invest in a good cast iron

i do own a cast iron that i got as a pesent before and i like it but now i need bigger one and i got a little confused. ive learned about cast iron gate mark and am curious if its worth the money or not? should i aim for that kind of skillet or more modern types?

Yes, definitely, it's still worth it. If you love vintage cookware, like you do with that cast iron you got or else you wouldn't bother needing a bigger one, then go for it. But if you're all about ease of use, yes modern brands are much better fit for you. Are you going to cook sizzling bacon there you?

I fry bacon and eggs in my cast iron without problems. I season the pans first and use oil and I do NOT wash with soap and water, only hot water, and use a scraper if needed and a stiff nylon (Lodge) brush. I do use smaller cast iron and larger carbon steel pans (arthritis hurts).

I have inherited a Lodge square cast iron pan and had to scrub it and then season it again since it had not been used for a while.

One is good, two are better and too many is just enough! I have to re-season a small 6 1/2 Taiwan fry pan I just purchased as soon as the weather clears up and I can open all the windows. Congratulations on inheriting a Lodge.
