I got a cast iron skillet from a friend (for free, yeay!), but it's not in good condition
It has a thick crust on the bottom. Can someone tell me how to remove this crust?
What tools should I use to safely scrub the crust without scratching it?

Just get a Cuisinel Cast Iron Scrubber Cleaning Brush on Amazon. Do not use steel wool or anything too sharp because cast iron is tough but its seasoning layer is not. I know it is tempting to use steel wool in removing the thick crust.

If you think it has a stubborn buildup, just soak it with hot water for a short time and then scrape with a plastic scraper.

hi @limepie_ check out these cast iron cleaning tutorials on youtube channels like Epicurious, not another cooking show, I also learned from a few tutorials on tiktok
